Life, Books & What's Next

This post might be a little bit different from what I usually post. There are reasons for that though. I've been meaning to post since last Thursday, then naturally life got in the way. I've been under the weather, my husbands been sick so when not curled up in bed trying to feel better or being at school or work, cause being a grown up can stink sometimes (obligations to uphold, no sick days in college lol).

I honestly haven't been wearing too much makeup, which is a reason for this post not being about Too Faced ~ La Belle Carousel. I don't feel like I've worn it enough to give it a full review and it has so much to it that I don't feel a first impression would give it justice or be a fair view of the product.

Another thing I've been doing out side of homework, has been reading. I go through phases sometimes where I will just devour books. In the past month (January) I've read eight books & I'm about to finish my ninth and tenth. Here's a list of the books in case you are curious:

  • Unlucky 13 - James Patterson
  • Private - James Patterson
  • Confessions of a Serial Killer - James Patterson (Just a bit of a Patterson kick lol)
  • Hunger Games #1 (Catching Fire) - Suzanne Collins
  • The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Storm Front - Jim Butcher
  • Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A Women's Prison - Piper Kerman
  • The Paris Wife - Paula Mclain
The ones I'm about to finish:

  • Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
  • Life As I Blow It - Sarah Colonna
So, as I said, I've been off devouring books, like crazy. It's just a habit I have and will never deny. In case you were wondering my favorites out of what I am reading or have recently read are Gone Girl (seriously, if you haven't read it, GO READ IT, after finishing this post of course ^_~), Unlucky 13, it's part of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series and the entire series is great. The Hobbit is a favorite book of mine and I re-read it after seeing The Hobbit pt. 3 in theaters. The Paris wife is a lovely read. Orange is the New Black was good and I want to watch the show on netflix now (even though it's different from the book. Storm Front is book one of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, love the series, I'm re-reading this series because a new book just came out and I'm not caught up. Private was a boring letdown and I won't be continuing that Patterson series. Confessions of a Serial Killer was alright if not hard to follow because of the style in which it was written. Not really a fan of either of these books and I usually enjoy Patterson's stuff. Yeah, so those are my top picks and the fails out of this lot.

Anyway, I'm sure some of you are like where's the makeup content. Well, I'm working on it. I'm trying to fix my lighting setup so I can maybe start doing videos. Also I just really need to fix my lighting in general to get rid of orange tones in my pictures, et cetera. As soon as I work out the bugs there, I'll post some reviews on the few products I have been wearing lately. Some hits and a couple of definite misses for me, plus a product that I'm actually just mad at. Keep your eyes out for new content soon.

Leave me some comments on anything you might want to see me review. Or tell me what are you reading right now? Have any suggestions, leave a comment below.

Just An Update - Life Stuff & Upcoming Content

Sorry for the lack of content lately everyone. I'm completely going to blame the holidays. I'm also a student so finals and final projects in school which was ending for the semester has kept me super busy. Working full time on top of that during the holiday season didn't help either. Now school is picking up again, but it should be a lighter workload then I had last semester.

I have some projects that I'm putting together. I've been trying a lot of new products. Some reviews, first impressions, new found favorites and products that I wanted to love...but instead hate.

My favorite products of 2014 & what I'm looking forward to getting my hands on in 2015, all of that is coming soon. I've been trying to put a post together on Pantone's color of the year, Marsala (love it). Hopefully I will have that ready to go in a couple days.

Just a picture of lil' old me wearing a product I'll be talking about soon.
Can you guess what it is? :p
Life has been keeping me busy. I've also been on the mend from a recent car accident.

I am also trying to put together something to celebrate my blog turning ONE. Cause I just cannot believe it and am so happy that I took a chance on this. Keep your eyes open for that. Over 500 views in a year. I just want to thank everyone who has ever taken the time to read my ramblings.

Also Youtube, yep that's all I'm gonna say on that. Gotta keep some stuff close to the vest. ^_~

Happy 2015 everyone!!! Hope you all had a fantastic holiday season. Later

Review: eos Hand Lotion - First Impressions

Recently, while I was out finishing up my holiday shopping at my local Target. I came across eos hand lotion in Berry Blossom. Needless to say I snatched it up. Working in a cosmetic department while I'm also going to school, I've definitely noticed that this hand lotion has become a pretty hot item lately. Well all the demand and the fact that it's currently out of stock on eos site, made me decide to give this product a try.

eos describes the lotion as fast absorbing and non greasy lotion that will provide 24 hour moisture. My first impression of this product agrees that the lotion does absorb quickly. However, I do notice a slight greasy feeling after application (not so much that it's unbearable) and the complete lack of berry blossom scent. All I smell is a basic moisturizing lotion, to me my hands actually have a smell that reminds me of St. Ives Apricot or Oatmeal scrub.

Now, this could just be me and I don't find the smell to be off putting. It just doesn't smell like berries or blossoms like the packaging names it. Oats (Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernal extract is one of the ingredients listed, so at least the Oatmeal scent makes sense.

I bought this lotion for only a couple of dollars and for the price you get 1.5 fluid ounces of product in a travel friendly form. As it is winter, which already dries my hands out. On top of that, I also work quite a lot with my hands. I feel that this purchase was in no way a waste of money, but I'm still on the fence as to if I'd repurchase this same product at least when it comes to the scent.

Have you purchased this product? What scent, and if you tried them all then let me know your favorite scent. Does eos hand lotion live up to the hype?

Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Next time, I'll be looking at Too Faced's LA BELLE CAROUSEL.

w7 In The Nude Eyeshadow Palette Reviews/Lots Of Swatches

My first real post after my long hiatus from blogging. Figure might as well go all in with a product I recently purchased.
That product is w7's In The Nude Palette. Honestly, I was recently playing around online. Just watching random Youtube videos and actually kinda doing a little bit of research about Youtube as I consider making a channel. As I was looking I started hearing about w7 and their product line. Now unfortunately these product are not available in the United States, in fact this product line can only be found in the United Kingdom. (Insert sad face here).

Anyway, thank you internet, a few clicks later and I'm on Amazon ordering w7's palette, In The Nude. From all of the reviews and such I've heard comparisons to Urban Decay's Naked palette line. I leave my views on that till later in my review. Now lets move on to the swatches and colors found in w7's In The Nude Palette.

The palette is cased in an aluminium tin, the palette includes 12 pans of shadows and the palette itself weighs 15.6 g (or 0.55 ounces). I purchased this palette for around $8.50 and this included shipping from England. Can I just say awesome, and holy budget friendly!!

Onto the contents of this palette:
From Left to Right: Fashionista, Tokyo, Mud Slide, Coffee Cup, Bad Manners,
Alice, Sun Kissed, Copper Pot, Marilyn, Venice, Angel and Latte.

Sun Kissed, Copper Pot, Marilyn, Venice, Angel, Latte

Fashionista, Toyko, Mud Slide, Bad Manners, Alice
Latte
Swatch:

It's a cream colored nude and didn't sow up too well in my swatches in photo. It is also a complete matte so in photo, it just looks like a skin color variation.

Angel
Swatch:

If you do not want a glittery product then Angel isn't for you. There is a subtle pink powder to it but the glitter is just what this "color" is. I love it though and it has the feel of a small cosmetic glitter. A smooth consistency not chunky at all.

Venice
Swatch:

A light romantic pinkish rose hue with a bit of shimmer. Simple as that.

Marilyn
Swatch:

A light pinkish/purple matte. This is very light and actually goes with my skins undertone. Thus, I don't know how much justice my swatches do for this color. Also, this color made me think that there might be some sort of coating on top of the matte colors. Such as a spray finish or something that you have to work your way through, in order to get the true color payoff from some of the mattes in this palette. This would be my number one issue with this palette.

Copper Pot
Swatch:

I'm in love with the color payoff I get from this. This photo doesn't really do this payoff justice. It's name fits the color. A copper tone color with shimmer.

Sun Kissed
Swatch:

Now this is a wonderful gold hue with shimmer. It's the color I was most looking forward to from this palette. It gives off a very true gold color, which can be hard to find sometimes. This is actually my personal favorite from this palette overall.

Alice
Swatch:

This is a pale violet color and is also a matte. With this I've had no issue with lack of color payoff. For which I am extremely happy. Very romantic and feminine. It gives a depth in the richness of the color you get.

Bad Manners
Swatch:

Bad Manners is a great color it's a taupe with a hint of pink. It has a lovely blue and purple incandescent shimmer. I don't really know if this photo shows that off. This incandescent shimmer provides this color with some real depth and looks great on the eyes. This is one of the top colors out of eye shadow that I own.

Coffee Cup
Swatch:

A light bronze shimmer, can be built upon to enhance the look or a great neutral for day to day wear. The color can work from day to night wear easily. Once again wonderful color payoff with or without a primer.

Mud Slide
Swatch:

This looks and feels like a slightly darker version of Coffee Cup, it’s verging on a more chocolate type hue. It also has a shimmer, but the shimmer looks more understated to me.

Tokyo
Swatch:

Once again this has even less of a shimmer to it then Mud Slide did. This is a somewhere between a chocolate and a grey. Great for a less traditional smoky eye.

Fashionista
Swatch:

A taupe with a red incandescent shimmer. Loving this color mainly because you can actually get the red incandescence to show in the color when you wear it. I have this type of hue in other palettes I own and this is the first in which I can actually see that shimmer when I use the color and not just in the pan, where it usually stays. This quality alone makes this my second favorite color from this palette.

All of these colors have great color payoff, the mattes are even good although some do have almost a chalky overcoat at first. Talc is the main product used in this palette. The shadows feel smooth and come off pure and true in color, to what you see in the pan, instead of cakey or streaky. At $8.50, this palette feels like such a great steal, there are some who sell it higher such as around $12.50 or have you pay shipping. Even then I still feel this palette is so worth it. I’m really hoping to purchase more from w7 including the other palettes from this line, In The Buff and In The Night. Do I think this palette is better then Urban Decay's Naked Palette or a 100% dupe? No, however, I do think that it is a wonderful, comparable, and far more pocketbook friendly product.

Do any of you own any of these products? What are some of your favorites either eyeshadows or w7 products? What color would you love to have from this palette? Please feel free to let me know in the comments.
